Betty Plombon, avid historian, author, and genealogist. She is always in search of a good dead man! She is the author of Katrina and the Forgotten Gulf Coast, The Horror of 1888, Out of Switzerland, and several local history books.
After raising five children, she is the museum director and newsletter editor for a very successful museum in Stanley, Wisconsin. Betty is a native of Stanley, Wisconsin where she spends her summers and resides in Hoschton, GA, during the winters. Each summer, she spends her spare time at the museum building exhibits, researching and writing stories for the society’s newsletter and programs while helping others explore their family histories.
She is writing many of her family histories, which will soon be available. She does not write novels - only non-fiction.
She loves to read, research, write, garden, and play bridge.
I feel that I have been called to flesh out the bones of my ancestors and breath life into those
who have gone before me.
They cry out to me: Tell our story.
So I Do.
I also publish, twice a year, a 24 page historical newsletter for the Stanley Historical Society. It is filled with interesting historical items about "The Old Days."
The cost of the book is $15.00 and is available
now, both from me or Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

This is not a "Who Done It" book but a "Why."
It is the true story of two brothers fishing in a creek in Southern Wisconsin in 1888. They pulled a sack from the water and found body parts inside belonging to someone who had, evidently, been murdered.
The identity of the body and the murderer was quickly determined disclosing the details of one of the most horrible murders ever known to Wisconsin at that time.
The book continues in great detail as the sheriff follows the accused across the Atlantic to Ireland, where the murderer was arrested before he could reach his native country of Switzerland, and brought back to Wisconsin for trial.
The events of this crime and the extradition process that returned him to Madison generated international notoriety.
The reason for the horrible murder is released near the end of the book.
This book is available on Amazon and at Barnes and Noble Bookstores. If you order from me you will receive a signed copy. See below.
